Water Night Chorus Women – In hopes to make the divisi less complicated, I have divised this plan. As you see, each group is divided into 2 parts, high and low. At the occasional times there are 5 parts, I have put one skilled singer on the lowest part. I realize that many of you are not singing the part you sang last week, but let’s give this a try.
2 parts = 1, 2
3 parts = 1H, 1L, 2
4 parts = 1H, 1L, 2H, 2L
5 parts = 1H, 1L, 2H, 2L, * singing the lowest note

Saturday, January 28

2pm – 3:30pm

ALL ARE WELCOME!

No singing/choral experience necessary

$20 suggested contribution (not mandatory)

Changing the World Through Music

With a mission to sing as a community for the community, Midcoast Community Chorus (MCC) grew from a small UU church’s music outreach program into a 140 voice non -auditioned multi-generational community chorus. With the belief that “When we sing we change who we are, when we change who we are we change the world” MCC performs annual benefit concerts that raise awareness and funds for local non-profit organizations addressing social injustices and community needs. Performing to consistently sold-out audiences, MCC has donated over $75,000 to these worthy organizations since its founding in 2008.

Using this story as a springboard and learning songs justice peace, hope and transformation, we will explore ways that music offers powerful pathways for creating community and working with social justice issues in our churches and local communities.

All who attend this workshop will be invited to sing the songs we learn in the Sunday morning worship service at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington.

About Mimi Bornstein

Mimi Bornstein is a professional choral director, song leader, pianist, singer, composer, workshop and worship leader whose work embraces the powerful journeys we take when we sing in community. Mimi has led worship and presented workshops at numerous UU churches and gatherings including General Assembly (GA), has served as GA Choir Director, as well as Director of Music for Sunday morning worship at GA. An active member of the Unitarian Universalist Musician’s Network (UUMN), Mimi has served on their Board of Directors, and helped design, launch and was an instructor for their professional credentialing program. Currently, Mimi serves as a Good Officer and Director of Conferences for UUMN.

First Rehearsal Follow Up

Wednesday, January 11th, 2017

From Dr. Whitmire: Dear Singers- Words cannot express the happiness and satisfaction that last night’s rehearsal brought to me. Meeting so many new folks and reuniting with so many old friends was such a joy. Plus the amazing choral sound that you were able to create on the very first night. Awesome!

This Saturday at 11:00 am I will rehearse with MEN. Thereafter we’ll alternate weeks Women-Men, etc. Saturday rehearsals are optional, but I encourage everyone to attend if they can.

I need some help in two areas:
1 – help with the April 8 cleanup project
2 – help with the May 12 30th year Celebration
Please let me know if you are willing to help with either of these events.

Senior Registration Issues

Tuesday, January 10th, 2017

From Chorister Peggy: Seniors. If you registered Friday your classes may have dropped per one of our members below. You need to go to student services asap and put your name an the senior list with your student is and phone number and they will fix it. The student services told me that just now.

Chorister:
Today both and I had our senior citizen class registrations cancelled despite submitting all required forms online. After spending time on it and going in today, they are saying a lot of senior had their registrations dropped due to a glitch in the system. If this happens to others in class they need to submit their name on a list that is in student services. I did this by going over there but perhaps it can be done by phone. Those who registered online as seniors need to check their status for sure to make sure they were not “dropped.”
