Twelfth Rehearsal Preview

We have 3 rehearsals before our Monday April 29 Dress Rehearsal with the Annandale Orchestra in Schlesinger. Be sure this rehearsal in on your calendar.

There are a few more Opera Choruses CDs. No charge. There are also at novachorus.org. Please practice your German and Italian diction.

Tonight
I will dismiss Women (except music majors) at break (8:40 pm)
Men will rehearse Pilgrim’s Chorus until 9:10 pm
I will rehearse Music Majors until 9:40 pm

Saturday I see Women at 3:00 pm.

Mark your calendars-Our Annual Chorus Picnic
will be Saturday, May 11, noon until 3:00 pm at the Wulff’s. More info will follow. I hope you will plan to attend.

Wonderful Concert

From Dr. Whitmire: Dear Singers-
-Thanks for a wonderful concert yesterday! The sounds of Cantata Academica are still ringing in my ears.  I hope that most of you learned to like (if not love) this music.
-I am so thankful for your hard work and commitment. I realize that the past week (Sunday-Tuesday-Saturday-Sunday) has been very demanding. Tomorrow’s rehearsal will end at 9:00 pm.
-We have 5 rehearsals before our Monday April 29 Dress Rehearsal with the Annandale Orchestra in Schlesinger. Be sure this rehearsal in on your calendar.
-I will get Opera Chorus rehearsal files up as soon as I can. In the meanwhile, work on Triumphal Scene from Aida which is already up at novachorus.org. It is by far the most challenging of the group.
-If you missed our March 17 or our March 24 concert for any reason, please contact me asap. If you have already discussed your absence, please remind me.
-If you have any tickets or ticket money, please get it to your section leader tomorrow. The WMPO has to pay the bills and we must do our part.

-Thanks for a good rehearsal last night. It was great to add some musical moments to our pieces.
-Our February 27 concert has only 5 pieces. You should know them securely by now. If not, please learn them this week.

From Dr. Whitmire: Dear Singers-

I will be rehearsing the Bach Magnificat with the orchestra on Sunday, November 18, at 5:00 pm, at Bishop Ireton High School. I would like it if as many singers as possible to attend. I would especially like my Music Majors to be present for this educational opportunity.

Men- We have rehearsal today at 12:30 pm.

Women- Auditions for Suscepit Israel will be this Tuesday after rehearsal.  I encourage my Music Majors to prepare and gain this audition experience. Your notes can be found at

Please note this time change:
The call on December 2 at Epiphany is 1:30 pm. The concert (now billed as an informal concert – with tickets) is at 3:00 pm.

From Dr. Whitmire: Tonight is our 6th rehearsal of Fall 2012!
Once again, let me thank you for a great Beethoven concert on Oct. 2.

You looked great and sounded great. We had a great crowd and received over $1000.00 in donations. Special thanks to Chris and David, and to our outstanding soloists-Cindy, Lika, Jane, Mike, Francisco, Matt, Ellie and Ray.

If you missed the concert for any reason, Please make sure you have spoken to me about it since October 2.

If you are a Music Major and missed the Mid-term on Saturday, please stay after rehearsal tonight.

Extra Rehearsal CDs are here for free. Everyone must be practicing with the rehearsal tracks every week (even every day)

With regard to sheet music and rehearsal CDs you have two options: you can download all that you need at www.novachorus.org for FREE or you can purchase sheet music and CD for $30 ($10 per concert).

Quartets-Earlier this summer, I suggested that we learn our Concert Two repertoire in quartets. How is that working? If you are in a quartet that has rehearsed and has made good progress, please let me know.
