Alto Lines in These Things Shall Be

February 17th, 2017

Question from Chorister Ellie:
Pages 24-25, divisi altos: can you cover when you rehearse this?

Stems up, alto 1, stems down, alto 2? We will cross several times; on p. 24, m. 218, it might make more sense for A2 to sing both the lower notes.

There are two places (m. 220 and 223) where there are three tones, and the stems-up have them. Same division as in Water Night?

Answer from Dr. Whitmire: Yes, stems up, alto 1, stems down, alto 2.
When there are 3 notes A 1 and A2 take the top 2 notes
